GMD Studios is an experimental media lab focused on the emergence of networked communities, audiences and marketplaces. We're staffed by a team of experienced entrepreneurial producers who can turn abstract theory into measurable execution. Since 1994, our experiments have centered on how this emergence challenges and reshapes the traditional approaches of media, storytelling, publishing, communication, and experience design.

A large portion of GMD Studios' lab efforts are dedicated to our own brands, including software tools, news publications, immersive games, motion pictures, and retail ecommerce brands. Some of those brands are incubated for later expansion or acquisition (anywhere from six months to twelve years later), while others are intended to be shorter duration experiences freed from traditional business models.

An equal portion of GMD Studios' experimental work is done in collaboration with a limited number of major national and international clients in the publishing, advertising, entertainment, broadcasting and not-for-profit sectors. As part of their larger team, we help them leverage new approaches in familiar ways (and familiar approaches in new ways) from product development to marketing and measurement. We have a long, proud history of helping our clients innovate in the face of digital change.

Collaboration and networked communities aren't just the subject of GMD Studios' experimentation, they are also the fabric of our company and our lab's approaches. Built upon a small core staff comfortable with wearing multiple hats, GMD Studios' projects also rely upon our extended network of world-class producers and specialists, many of whom we’ve collaborated with for more than a decade.
